Infinity Blade II

Infinity Blade, the titan-slaying game that took iPhone gaming by storm, is back with its first sequel.

Infinity Blade II

Fans looking for more action will not be disappointed – Infinity Blade II is bigger and better than its predecessor.

Like the first installment, it lets players take on the role of a hero who engages in a series of one-on-one battles with giant foes as he wanders through a dilapidated castle.

This sequel also features great-looking visuals – everything from the characters to the castle environment are beautifully rendered.

While the first game was almost devoid of a storyline, Infinity Blade II keeps players intrigued with one that is full of mystery.

The hero from both games finally gets a name – Siris. Several scenes in the game also provide answers and the background to events that happened in the first game. Voice acting has also been introduced this time.

The simple yet interesting plot is also what keeps the game from becoming stale as your character goes through repeated battles.

New places in the castle open up after you defeat key bosses, resulting in a game world that is much larger than that in the first game.

Also new is a weapon upgrading system, which lets players increase the power of their battle gear with gems. The gems can be purchased or come as part of the spoils after defeating a titan.

While the old game offers plenty of weapons to choose from, arms are now classified into three weapon types that are wielded differently.

Enemies are also tougher and smarter in Infinity Blade II. Like Siris, they can use different weapon types and their attacks are more varied than in the previous game.

This game offers plenty of replay value and is certainly one of the best iPhone games so far.

Fans of the first game should get this sequel. For everyone else who simply likes action games, this title would be US$6.99 well spent.
