The latest Lego Star Wars III game is more or less a clone of the previous titles in the series, and it uses a mix of characters from the Star Wars movie franchise. In terms of storyline, it covers the first two seasons of the Star Wars cartoon show.
While there is nothing wrong with this game, the Lego Star Wars III gameplay is easy and long-time fans would have played it all before.
At most levels in the game, you will find a character with a light-saber or blaster for you to slice and shoot through the level.
In some parts, you will need to combine strengths of the different characters, but this aspect soon gets monotonous. Some doors can be opened only by droids, so you switch to a droid unit. Certain machines can only be operated by Clone troopers, so you switch to the troopers, and so on.
I got bored after the third level – maybe because I am not a fan of the cartoon but mostly because the levels felt the same after a while.

The only bright sparks are the puzzles in each level which require the combined skills of the characters to solve.
In Lego Star Wars III games, characters cannot die but they merely fall apart and they can be reassembled. So even very young gamers would not have problems finishing this game.
Lego fans will like the look of this game. Apart from the game’s landscapes, almost all of the machines and structures are rendered in Lego bricks. From pieces that are lying around, players can build items that expose collectible in-game items.
There is some re-playability value especially for gamers new to this genre, as most levels have panels, doorways or side quests that require unlocking so you will feel inclined to revisit the levels to see what you have missed.
But having played Lego Batman, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter and previous Star Wars games, I am not hopeful there will be anything new to discover.
Overall, this game packs no surprises for fans of the Lego Star Wars series. And if you are new to the series, do not expect anything like the Star Wars movies you remembered as a child.
