Rune Factory 3
A spin-off from the Harvest Moon series, the Rune Factory games feature a little more action by combining slaying monsters with farming and ranching.
While you continue to grow crops, such as turnips, for sale, you also get to keep monsters on the ranch.
The game pits you against monsters in dungeon battles which you must win in order to complete the main storyline.
If you want plenty of farming fun without missing out on the action, these games in the Rune series are a must-get. Earlier titles include Rune Factory Fact 1 and 2, for the Nintendo DS, and Rune Factory Frontier, for the Nintendo Wii.
In Rune Factory 3, the story begins with you waking up in the peaceful village of Sharance without any memories.
The friendly people in the village help you find out about your past. All they ask in return is for you to tend your farm well and fend off monsters that come your way.
This role-playing, monster-hunting game packs plenty of farming fun along with dungeon quests. It has an interesting, if slightly long-winded, storyline.
