PlayStation Move to reach Singapore Sept 15

Gamers will be amongst the first in the world to get their hands on the Playstation Move (PS Move) when it launches in Singapore on Sept 15. This is one month ahead of Japan, and due to timezone differences, several hours ahead of United States and European territories.

PlayStation Move

The Playstation Move is Sony Computer Entertainment’s answer to Nintendo’s Wii motion-control platform. It uses the previously released PS Eye webcam as well as a new motion controller (resembling a Wii remote controller but with a giant glowing ball on top) to enable what the company says is true one-to-one motion control on the PS3. One edge that the PS Move has over the Wii is high-definition 720p and 1080p graphics – the Wii displays up to 480p.

For $99, existing PS3 owners can get the Playstation Move Starter Pack comprising the PS Eye and Move motion controller as well as a starter disc with 10 Move game demoes. Gamers who want software can get the Basic Pack, which throws in one game – Sports Champions, Kung Fu Rider or Start the Party. You can also opt for the Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition Bundle, which includes Capcom’s zombie survival-horror game and a limited-edition USB Stick. Each software-bundled package retails at $139.

When sold separately, the PS Eye will retail at $49, the motion controller at $69, an optional navigation controller (like the Wii’s nunchuk attachment but wireless) at $49, and a charging station at $39.

The launch games line-up will consist of six Blu-ray disc games – the aforementioned four titles, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11, and The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn’s Quest – and one download-only PS Network title, Flight Control HD.

Customers who buy a new PS3 during the promotional period between launch day and Oct 31 can pick up the Starter Pack for $79, while those who buy the Basic Pack can take home an extra motion controller for $39.

Gamers can expect more accessories that integrate with the PS Move platform, starting with a $29 shooting attachment that will be released in time for October’s Time Crisis: Razing Storm, a lightgun shooter that includes Deadstorm Pirates, Time Crisis 4 and an eight-player online multiplayer mode.
