This was a gift for my 15 year old grandson. He loves playing it.
I have been an avid videogame sports fan and have loved most of the games out this year (Nhl 10, Fifa 10 etc) but I realize those are EA. With MLB 2k10 I haven’t noticed many glitches with outfielding like many have mentioned. The pitching is great this time around. I absolutely love it, I find I can pitch no hitters quite frequently and the pitching is fun. I play the Braves and pitching really works well with all the starting and relief pitchers different pitches. The commentary in the game is pretty good along with smooth movements of the players etc. I do agree with many that the graphics aren’t so great this time around and some of the players look downright weird! Poor bobby cox looks like mutant lol. I didn’t really care for the new ‘My player mode’, I find that it is quite unrealistic and sometimes you play a good game but get in trouble for a few minor issues, other times you play terrible and everything is ok and you’re told it’s ok and to hang in there next time will go better for you?? It isn’t a bad addition but being only able to play bits and parts just feels weird to me personally but I’m sure some will enjoy building a character etc. The worst issue I have with this game is the batting, it is absolutely AWFUL, I cannot get a run no matter what I do! I have adjusted the sliders to make it easy also and it still doesn’t help. The only time I can hit normal is when you do drills but in game? Nope. Some might say ‘You just stink at batting’, well, I’ve never had an issue with any baseball games before this one 2K, EA etc!!!! 2K just can’t seem to get it right. They fix one area (pitching) and another suffers (batting). I really wanted to love this game, I have been looking forward to it all year and was hoping it would be great but sadly it’s my last 2k sports game. Why couldn’t this be great like NHL 10 and Fifa 10 are?!??!?!! I really wish EA would make a great baseball game like they did for soccer and hockey! I am simply frustrated and keep trying to talk myself into playing it again but sadly It’s just not a good game because when you play baseball your hitting should be as good as your pitching.
This game is far better than MLB 2k9 in all aspects. The only thing that will take getting used to is the menu system. It is completely different than MLB 2k9 which I think had one of the best menu systems in the sports genre. Overall, I would strongly recommend this game.
Huge improvement to last years 2k9 module. Not sure about the show so I cant compare but i can say this much this game is done right, the only glitch that i had found so far into my constant hours of playing (I’m obsessed with baseball games) is in my player mode, in which my created player gets called up very quickly and without completing any goals that were assign. Thats really just a minor issue and maybe it’ll get address but if it does not, then I’ll work with it. I recommend buying this game or at least renting it.
I’m really tired of the modern genre of games shipping with inadequate documentation and little (if any) in-game help to figure out how to play. I’m sorry…but I’m not 15 spending my entire night playing games 7 days a week. I get a manual that shows me a bunch of button positions but nothing else. I go to the practice mode (which would be nice if it actually instructed you on what to do) and I’m fumbling around. For some reason the controller defaults to the ‘Y’ button being the throw to home…even though ‘Y’ is positioned as second base on my controller diamond. When I go to change the setup I cannot for the life of me figure it out.
I’m not saying this is a bad game. Actually, I don’t know – because I can’t configure it and I’m not sure exactly how to play. So instead I spend my time Googling my questions on the internet because a $60 game can’t come with adequate instructions.
Forgive me…I’m an old-timer. My first video game was Pong. I’m not blaming 2K10 because every console game that comes out now assumes you’ve been playing XBox like it was your job. Maybe you guys who have played this game before have no problems. But if you haven’t played be ready for a steep learning curve and little if any help to figure out the game.
