Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter A/B/G Networks Only

WARNING
Please be advised before you buy this system that it will only work with two walls of distance between the user and the wireless router.
And mind you… these have to be very thin walls indeed. We’re talking a little bit of frame, siding, and plaster at the very most. If you expect to be able to receive a signal… AT ALL from a distance of more than two rooms… or two rooms which have metal heating tubes in them… you will be sorely disapointed and disgusted at the fact of spending over $100 dollars on a peice of equipment which does not work.
guys we have to take a stand and just do without!! if we do the price has to drop. Its just highway robbery to charge 33% of the console price for somthing that should have been uncluded.c’mon 60 bucs per (half decent) game. additional 50 bucs for a controller. and then this microsoft point rip off for gamer pictures, lame themes and games from atari 2600. other then the controller those things should be included in your live subscription. Ps3 i welcome u with open arms. please dont disappoint me. oh! anyone in the market for an xbox 360? lol
I wanted to hookup a wireless system for my home, I have cable and bought a Linksys WRT54GS with speedbooster for the router. The other computer was on the far end of the house so I wanted a network adapter that had range. The XBox 360 seemed to be the answer, or at least that was their claim. When the XBox 360 arrived I tried to install it on my desktop computer which has windows vista by pluging the USB connection, one of the reasons i bought it. However, it wouldn’t install, no installation CD came with it and from my understanding, none was needed, everything was automatic. I searched for an installation download on the net and never found one. Finally, I made a call to Microsoft support. After about a 1/2 hour wait a friendly English as a second language agent finally got on the phone. He told me the XBox 360 is not to be used as a network adapter and will not install into a computer, but only to the XBox game controller. I read that the XBox 360 wireless adapter can be used for a home wireless system. So now, i don’t know what to believe, it won’t install on my computer so i returned and asked for a refund from Amazon.
I don’t own this since I have my 360 wired via a switch, but I would say it is too expensive for what it is. I’m sure it works well, but again, I just can’t see paying this much for it. If you are technically adept I suggest some other wired/wireless options in order to spend less.
there are a bunch of things the 360 lacks and built in wireless internet is one of them. you have to add on 100 for wireless internet. it works well when you get it set up, but adding on things to get the 360 adds up.
the hd dvd player and the wireless internet add up to 700 bucks. thats 100 over the ps3.
overall if you have wireless internet, this is a requirement for online gaming and its another way microsoft robs you of your cash.
